Sidney: Ha! :-) We can look at it that way. There is something special about potatoes cooked for hours and the covered with beautiful icing or potato cookie. Let everyone partake and enjoy the festivities, but I still see no relevance of this whole fanfare to Jesus Christ's life and crucifxion. I just need to look the other way. I don't want to spoil their fun.
Why does this break my heart? Why is it that the church, supposedly an egalitarian institution separates those who give more to its coffers from the poor? I am sorry but this nauseates me. Salvation is not guaranteed based on whether one sits on comfortable chairs or sits on the church steps and the bleachers. I am sorry but I do not see beauty in a church that separates their worshipers based on how much they stuff the money bag or how high a political office they hold. As a young child I noticed this then. In the end the truth is revealed. It's just ostentatious display. I am really sorry. This is one of those that makes me sad about my birth country.
gotta love that first shot! love the angle with that towering church at the background, puts a great emphasis on the size of the church, belittling the crowd.
para palang sagala ang Cordero! ang galing.
one more nice thing about your crowd shots is the vibrancy, brought about by the different colors of their clothes.
Magnificent series. The light in the church and the attendees. An evening it he drizzles.

The first photo is really dramatic. The shadows add to the effect.

Hey... I was just there Maundy Thursday night... All the way from Bacoor, Cavite.
Awesome photos. I took a photo of the bell-tower with my SE k800 the night I visited the church.
Again... Fabulous photos. Reminds me of my photography classes back in college. :)
